The other day I decided that waking up at 2pm and taking a nap at 5pm was probably not my best lifestyle choice so I decided to try making food. I took to buzzfeed.com and found some easy looking recipes that I thought (emphasis on THOUGHT) I could accomplish. I settled on brownie ice cream sandwiches that required brownies and vanilla ice cream (sounds easy right?...(RIGHT)) The following day I woke up early (11 am) and went to the grocery store to get all I needed to complete this recipe which included fudge brownie mix, vanilla ice cream and parchment paper. I recorded a montage of me acquiring all of the ingredients and I was really excited to get started. Once I set up up my camera in the kitchen and layed out all that I needed I began to follow the recipe. Everything was going unusually according to plan up to the part where I needed to put a thin layer of brownie mix between two sheets of parchment paper and lay that in the bottom of a pan. Shortly after I placed that in the oven, my kitchen began to smell like burning birthday candles. That is when I looked closely at the packaging of the parchments paper and realized I purchased wax paper which can NOT be placed in the oven. From there the entire procedure went downhill.

I ended up burning the brownies so they didn't really taste like brownies, and when I removed them from the oven they fell into SHAMBLES despite the recipe calling for a single sheet of brownie. Long story short the dessert was a disaster but when I placed ice cream between two shards of burnt brownie and gave it to my family they seemed to enjoy it.

Many other parts went wrong like adding olive oil instead of vegetable oil and the fact that I forgot to turn on the oven after putting in the brownies and much much more. But all in all, somehow I’m kind of proud of my horrible almost dessert. It honestly took talent to fail in every aspect that I could have possibly failed at. Maybe baking isn’t for me but there’s a nacho recipe that I saw and can’t wait to try.

Here’s the montage of my trip to the store and some pictures of the brownie ice cream shard.
